Hi! Deb Gonzales here.

I create quality, affordable, project-specific, supplemental materials connecting people with literature. As an educator and fellow author, I am skilled in navigating the needs of the educational and literary worlds.

The intent of this website is to showcase the incredible projects I've been privileged to participate in. Please contact me if you have any questions or desire to discuss a project you'd like to partner with.

My debut picture book Girls with Guts: The Road to Breaking Barriers and Bashing Records (Charlesbridge, 2019) is the tenacious history of the female athlete from the first Olympic Games to present day, including the passage of Title IX.

Learn more about Emma at emmavirjan.com

Emma J. Virján was born in San Antonio, Texas on a Wednesday evening, her Dad’s bowling night. This might explain her attraction to shiny, hardwood floors and crunchy, snack bar French fries.

Emma is the author-illustrator of the award-winning Pig in a Wig early reader series – What This Story Needs is a Pig in a Wig, What This Story Needs is a Hush and a Shush, What This Story Needs is a Munch and a Crunch, and What This Story Needs is a Bang and a Clang. She is also the illustrator of If This Bird Had Pockets – A Poem in Your Pocket Day Celebration, poetry by Amy Ludwig VanDerwater.

She has worked in advertising and marketing as a graphic designer, art director and creative director. She can also operate a forklift.

She loves to eat breakfast tacos, draw, tell stories and work in her garden. She often lets her dog sleep on the couch.
